Biodiesel is a diesel fuel that is non-petroleum based and consists of a chain of methyl, propyl, ethyl and esters. It is made by transesterification of animal fat or vegetable oil which are either used independently or are blended with petrodiesel in original cars. Biodiesel is regulated as an ester and excludes other various types of diesel fuels. Biodiesel is a product that that is distributed to be used in retail fuel markets. Diesel on the other hand is a fuel that is used in most diesel engines. It has a density of about 7.09 gallons which translates to about 18% more than petrol that has a density of 6.01 lbs/gallons. When burnt, diesel releases 38.6 MJ/I of combustion.
One difference between biodiesel and diesel is that biodiesel requires earlier ignition phasing in order to guarantee peak efficiency. Using biodiesel rather than diesel helps preserve the environment compared to using diesel. It also lacks a legal penalty in ultimate performance from switching. Another great difference that biodiesel has over diesel is that its production is quite scalable. Small and large business, private consumers of oil, local co-operatives and large businesses have in the past produced biodiesel using local means such as by using feedstock that has been grown locally. This has helped contribute to the home economies of most nations.
Biodiesel can help save the environment in many ways. One, unlike the ordinary diesel, biodiesel uses waste products obtained from other farming products such as leaves and stems. These kinds of products are generally viewed as by products of the most important parts of the vegetation. This way, biodiesel helps increase the general efficiency since fewer natural resources are used to grow the materials. The other advantage of biodiesel especially to the environment is that it is produces lower emissions and is more energy efficient compared to other form of energy. Biodiesel is produced using the latest technology including the particulate trap and filters. This in the end helps reduce greatly the climate effects that are caused by the emissions that are currently in the atmosphere.
In the third world countries, sources of bio diesel use marginal parcels of land. For instance, oil nuts are usually grown along rail lines and roads. In other tropical regions such as Indonesia and Malaysia, oil palm is grown rapidly in order to meet the high demand of biodiesel in countries like Europe and other world markets. This helps reduce over reliance on diesel thus help sustain the environments putting in mind that the source of the biodiesel is solar energy that is captured by growing plants during processes such as photosynthesis.
Bio diesel also helps in the reduction of greenhouse emissions, biodegradation and pollution. Biodiesel helps reduce the demand for first generation biofuels that is very likely to cause over reliance on other form of energy thus cause increase in emissions. This is because research has established that when fewer farmers produce food, the cost of food production will be on the rise.

Truck drivers license
There are many great career opportunities to choose from. Some of these careers hire fresh graduates from universities and colleges. On the other hand, there are some fantastic job opportunities which hire applicants even if they have just graduated from high school. One type of job is truck driving – where it is possible for people as young as 18 to secure a high paying and rewarding career. You should be aware that if you are between the ages of 18 and 21, you will be restricted to driving within your own state. However, if you are 21 or older, you can then drive throughout the United States – across state lines, and thus have the potential to earn a much higher wage and standard of living. Some trucking companies don’t even care if you have a high school diploma – their only requirement is that you possess a Commercial Drivers License – commonly referred as a CDL.
It is not easy to become a truck driver – You should be aware that you will have to pass the General Knowledge CDL Test. This is a test that all applicants must take and pass. After you have passed this test, you will want to take the Air Brakes endorsement if you want to drive a truck with air brakes. To get a feel for some of the questions that you will see on the test you should take a Free CDL Practice Test.
Currently, the Trucking Industry does not have enough drivers to meet their demands and so you will be in the “driver’s seat” – after you secure your Commercial Drivers License (CDL). Many companies will be looking to add you to their employment roster and reward you for your education and experience.
Please be aware that more than 500,000 people fail the CDL written test each year. This is not an easy test and the States are changing the questions and answers continually. You need to get up to speed on the laws and regulations regarding the trucking industry if you want to have any chance of passing the test. You have to score at least an 80% to pass these tests. Many States like to throw tricky and confusing questions to the applicants to ensure that they have the minimum sufficient knowledge.
Before you take a CDL test, it is recommended that you review and practice similar test items first. This way, you will have an idea of what subject will be covered on the CDL exams. The most convenient place where you can find a CDL sample test is in your living room – on the Internet. There are several websites on the Internet that offer sample tests, and one of these is a place called TestAnswers. This is a great place to start if you want to take a Free CDL Practice Test. If you are interested in more than just general knowledge quizzes, this site can offer you with the six other CDL endorsement exams. Among these are the hazmat, air brake, tanker, doubles and triples, passenger and combination tests. If you want to increase your earning potential and have the largest opportunity to work for many different companies, it is highly recommended that you study and pass many of these optional endorsements.
If you are a member of TestAnswers, you will be provided with more than just practice tests, quizzes and other study materials. They provide a Free CDL Pre-Trip Inspection Video, job resources and a ton of links that you will find invaluable during your trucking career and job search. You should do yourself a favor and check out TestAnswers and see what they can offer. You won’t be disappointed!

Emission Control Rules for California's Truck Drivers
In California there are over 1 million diesel semis' that belch tons of fine particulates into the air each day. It's no wonder that several of the cities in California are rated as having the most polluted air. Trucking companies wouldn't police them and fit their rigs with better air pollution controls, so the state had to step in.
The new laws call for all trucks that do business in California to be fitted or retro fitted with new pollution control systems: diesel particulate filters and oxidation catalysts. The state believes that thousands of lives can be saved by starting to clean up the air from dirty diesel trucks. The new diesel truck laws go into effect in 2010 under the direction of the California Air Resources Board.
The state's truckers believe that some of the smaller companies may be forced out of business by the $12,000 per truck cost of the new filtration systems and the fact that many will have to replace motors to meet the new guidelines. The total cost to trucking companies could be as much as $5.5 billion dollars, but the state has offered $1 billion in assistance.
While the trucking industry cries foul over their costs, the state points to 9,500 lives saved and $50 billion in health care costs savings. The state government hopes to see a reduction of particulates by 75% to 85%. That may be an optimistic goal, but even half of that would save on the medical bills of children who may not develop asthma.
Another answer could be alternative fuels or additives that reduce emissions by creating a cleaner burn. A HHO SYSTEM BY Waterpowercorp.com. In theory you can take a container of distilled water (H2O), and run 12 volts of electricity through it from the vehicle's battery by turning on the ignition. This starts up a process called "Electrolysis" which separates the hydrogen and oxygen atoms in the water and forms a gas called "HHO" (Hydrogen + Hydrogen + Oxygen). The hydrogen gas gets sucked into the vacuum air intake system of the engine where it combines with the diesel and produces a super level of combustion… three times more powerful than diesel alone, thus requiring a lot less fuel and greatly reduces toxic emissions. Read more about HHO hydrogen fuel, and decide what you will. If true, could be a 2 for 1 great deal, better mileage and less pollution.
Whether the solution lies in burning our fuels more efficiently or finding new fuels isn't the main question. Air pollution is killing our children and elderly in the same way the cigarette smoke does. California has made a huge leap into the future with its new legislation. Personally, I think that those same tougher rules should be enforced on factory emissions as well. The initial coast to business may seem daunting, but how will they feel when their health care costs go down and fewer employees call in on a daily basis? Better yet, how will you feel if there is even one less day that your eyes burn and your lungs feel like they are on fire? While most of us in Rio Del Mar don't have to suffer that unless you get caught behind a school bus, many in big cities do face that problem daily.
While we have the coastal air to help cleanse our environment, there is still a problem here, especially in inland valley communities. While this law attacks part of the same issue that created the "Spare the air" day, trucks contribute a lot to particulate pollution. Part of the issue is that trucks have long life spans and have escaped regulations because of that. Many trucks are still needed to build the empires of silicon valley that are build with our concrete from Davenport and the sand from our quarries in Scotts Valley and Zayante. These trucks emit the particulates as well as dispersing the fine particulates from the mining operation into the air as they drive. There has been outcry from the mining particulates at times too.

laons for Repairing a Big-Rig
Commercial owner-operators can earn a lot of Money
driving a truck, running their own business, and keeping abreast with the trucking industry. However, owning a big rig can also be a costly endeavour. The major problem with owning one thing that the rest of your business depends upon is, well, that the rest of your business depends upon that one thing!
What happens when a truck needs massive repair? New operators usually don't have a large amount of spare funds lying around, which means that repair money has to come from a different source. Far too many operators find themselves neck-high in credit card debt, struggling to pay back friends and family, and frustrated by traditional lenders.
The fact of the matter is that owning a big rig is expensive - there's no debating this statement. Unfortunately, the other fact of the matter is that traditional lenders (banks) won't lend an owner-operator a dime for repairs unless profits have been made, and solidified, in the past.
This is bad news for any new operator that is trying desperately to turn a profit. How can a profit be made, or proven, if an operator has not had the time to actually work? More often than not, new owner-operators purchase used trucks that tend to break down frequently. When this happens, many of these people simply declare bankruptcy due to a lack of funds.
If your dream is to drive a truck and operate a company, you shouldn't let the discouragement of truck repairs get in the way of your dreams - or your career. After all, there are plenty of owner-operators that make a nice wage owning a trucking company.
Instead of giving up all hope, apply for a private loan. If this thought has crossed your mind, but you are afraid of past credit mistakes, don't worry - private lenders of secured loans are not looking to penalize you for your credit history. Some lenders will even provide loans based on the value of your rig.
Private lenders lend large sums of money to owner-operators every day. When a loan has been granted, simply take the money that you have been approved for, and apply this money towards necessary truck repairs. As soon as your rig is up and running again, you can pay back your loan in no time.
Repairing a truck costs a lot of money, but letting your goal of owning your own company slip through your fingers will cost you a lot of pride. Don't let banks turn you down for a loan - look into private loans instead

Diesel Fuel Lubrication No Longer There
In case you have not noticed, there are almost as many trucks on the road these days as automobiles. In the past most of roads were filled with cars, and you would occasionally see a truck coming down the road. Today the roads are filled with not only thousands of pickup trucks but also tons of big tractor trailers.
If you happen to get behind one of these tractor trailers you would smell an odor in the air that sort of reminded you of rotten eggs. This was caused by the sulphur that was added to diesel fuel which carried lubrication to the upper portion of the engine.
Big business knew that in the future roads would be filled with these big trucks stinking up the air so they decided to remove the sulphur from the fuel. Leaving the engines with less protection needed to prolong engine life.
That is why trucks that deliver most of our consumer goods, and smaller trucks we use daily are in the need of BiTron Products ?
The reason is that sulphur has been removed from diesel fuels throughout North America in the interest of reducing toxic and acidic emissions. Which is suppose to help cleanup the air, which is great! However, the bad news is that the fuel is not burning as well and damage is being done to engine parts due to a lack of lubrication. Sulphur itself is not a lubricant; but by removing sulphur from diesel fuel much of the lubrication is removed as well.
Recently we tested some of the new Bi-Tron Diesel Conditioner, and those who have tested it in their truck are very pleased with the results. They experienced an increase in fuel economy and a significant improvement in the way the truck performs.
What does Bi-Tron do in diesel fuel?
Simply, Bi-Tron Diesel Fuel Conditioner is engineered to improve the burn structure of the diesel fuel so that it burns faster, hotter and more completely. More energy is extracted from the fuel and because it is being burned more completely, lower levels of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons are expelled in exhaust emissions.
Furthermore, Bi-Tron will improve the lubricity of the fuel and coat all metal surfaces throughout the fuel system and upper engine with a protective layer of oil. This means that these vital components can operate to the optimum level that their engineered parameters will allow.
So if you drive a tractor trailer , pickup truck or even a car that uses diesel fuel, don’t you think you should at least give this product a chance, so you can get the longevity out of your engine, isn’t that why you bought a diesel engine in the first place?

HOW To Do A Air Brake Leak Test-See the video
Do you know how to do a Air Brake test? Here is two explanation of how to do a air brake test. We will offer you this information in a video and also in a written text. One may differ a little from the other but the concept is still the same out come. Review this information as many times as you would like We will be offering more information on trucking procedures in the weeks to come, Here on the Edgeolite Trucking Blog So make sure you add us to your trucking favorites. Itis the Brake test procedure as follows:
A Seat belt on, Safe start vehicle, build up air to operating pressure if needed.
B. Select first gear, with wheel chocks down. Turn engine off, ignition back on, release parking brakes, static test for leaks no more than 2 psi straight truck or 3 psi combination vehicle in 1 min.
C Press and hold foot pedal, ( 90 psi ) pedal pressure check no more than 3 psi straight truck or 4 psi loss in 1 min
D Pump down the brake pedal to check that the air warning light come on by 60 psi.
E After that. continue to pump down, check TPV ( Tractor Protection Vavle) pops out by 20 psi. which will apply tractor parking brake.
F. Then put truck in neutral and start vehicle, we want to see how fast it takes for the air pressure to build back up. Check that air builds from 85 psi to 100 psi in under 45 seconds, and then continue to build air till governor blows at approx 125-130 psi the air gauge will stop building pressure at this point.
G Continue with the brake check , release tractor brake, pull against trailer brake (Trolley brake)
H. Set tractor brake, release trailer brake pull in first gear to test tractor parking brakes
I. Release parking brakes, pull forward 5 mph hands above steering wheel apply foot brake, check for brakes pulling to left or right.
J. Drive forward again 5 mph apply trailer hand valve (Trolley Brake Handle ) to test trailer service brakes.
K. Set parking brakes build to system to operating pressure prior to driving away.

Your DAC REPORT IS AS IMPORTANT AS YOUR CDL,
PLEASE - Don’t let a bad DAC Report hold you back.
Similarly, as your credit report follows you around representing you to lenders, the DAC report is of critical importance to drivers. It tells potential employers about you, and your work habits. Carriers you have worked for, or whose orientation you attended, report on you to DAC (HireRight ) which places the information on your report.
The DAC report contains your complete professional driver job history including accidents/incidents, MVR record, drug/alcohol test history, plus criminal history. Approximately 90% of all U.S. long haul commercial carriers use the DAC Report for pre-employment screening.
Inaccurate reporting and errors can easily end up on your report and they can negatively affect your ability to get work if not corrected.
DACfix.com is a company dedicated to assisting drivers dispute inaccurate/negative information on their DAC’s. If you have issues, DAC Fix has an affordable “DAC Fix” service to dispute inaccurate information. Their DAC Fix service is $189. They have an average success rate of 70% on their disputes. Truckers DAC Report Tips

Carriers you have worked for, or whose orientation you attended report on you to DAC, which places the information on your report. Here are some key areas that you should watch out for!
Orientations: Let’s say you started orientation with a carrier but didn’t like what you were hearing and left. You guessed it, that carrier can report on you even though you never collected a single paycheck. Unless you’re certain that you want to work for a carrier, do not submit to a pre-employment drug screen or attend the orientation session.
Discharges: Try and leave companies on good terms with two week written notice. Most banks will notarize your letter for free. Just a handwritten notarized note of resignation can prevent discharged, load abandonment, and quit under dispatch, common negative items that can keep you from getting hired by other carriers.
Drug History File: Another area that causes big problems for drivers is drug test refusals and failures
Never quit after being asked to take a random test. Take the test, and then quit with written notice if at all possible. Any time you take a test, ask for a copy of the paper work showing you submitted to the test. Retain this in your records.
Accidents/Incidents: This is an important one. Don’t report minor incidents where there was no damage or where you paid for minor damage straight out of your pocket. Seasoned drivers know the value of keeping a couple of hundred in cash for just these occasions. This can prevent an unsatisfactory safety record from being placed into your DAC report, in addition to the incident itself. Two incidents on your report will cause insurance carrier alarms to go off and lesson your chances of getting hired and increase your chances of getting terminated.

Truck Filters ,The truth
When it comes to maintaining your trucks, the object is reliability and durability. You want your truck to give you uptime for a long time. Good maintenance is smart and has many benefits including the fuel savings.
Simple things like wheel alignment ,grease , tire pressure and fuel filters. will add up their impact on your fuel bill, you're talking about a worth while payback. There's hardly anything on a truck that's simpler than its air-intake system.
A diesel engine needs to breath and flow of very clean air in order to function properly, and there's as much as a two percent difference in fuel-efficiency at stake. However, most over-the-road folks that's going to be more than $1,000 a year. And filters and only cost 10% of that.
Air intake is one of those things that you don't normally have to worry about when you buy a new truck. The engineers have it figured out for most applications. . But if you switch from a nice clean highway haul to pulling gravel out of a quarry and then down a few dirt roads to the highway. Those filter will clog up quickly..
Air Flow Restriction Gauge
Most trucks come with air-restriction gauges, but make sure of it. You absolutely need it, because you can't just look at a filter element and see that it's dirty. It may look like it's kaput when in fact it has lots of life left. Only the gauge would tell you. The filter could also look clean enough to keep, but in reality be overloaded with fine dust. Again, only a restriction gauge could give you the true picture.
The gauge could is usually mounted in the dash (preferred) or under the hood, in the piping between the filter canister and the engine. Usually it'll be a bar-type readout that shows restriction in inches (of water). It means 'restriction' literally -- the difficulty that air has in getting through the filter, past the trapped dirt, and into your engine.
The contaminants involved are ordinary dust, carbon soot from the exhaust, and water by way of rain or snow or even fog. If dirt particles are ingested into the engine, they'll do nasty things like damage the cylinder liners.
A normal restriction reading is 10 to 15 in., and as it moves to 20 in. or so it means there's dirt plugging things up. The gauge will probably go up to 30 in., but the element needs changing at about 25 in.
Leave it longer and the engine won't be breathing very well, and fuel economy will suffer. You'll use two percent more fuel at 30 in., compared to 10.
There's not just dirt to contend with in limiting restriction. The ducting has an important role to play here too. Add too many elbows and bends, and you'll also add restriction, perhaps in significant amounts. An easy 45-degree bend will add a half inch of restriction, while a smooth-radius 90-degree elbow adds one inch. But create a sharp 90-degree bend and your restriction gauge will show an increase of two and a half inches.
So that's clearly a spec'ing decision too, though it's only likely to arise if you've asked for some special equipment or made an oddball modification of some sort. Luckily, the ducting normally doesn't travel very far, so there are only so many elbows you could come up with anyway.
The air-cleaner canister can be outside the hood on either side, or on both sides of a traditional long-nose/narrow-cab conventional. These days, with aerodynamic conventional predominant, it's more likely to be under the hood.
The dry system's filter element, round or rectangular, sits inside a canister, and the system will draw air through the element and then into the engine. It can be mounted either directly on the engine or remotely.
The science of air cleaning has improved over the years, and these days most elements are very sophisticated things made of specially formed and treated paper or cellulose (sometimes a synthetic material as well), called the 'media'. They're sometimes re-useable, but with newer types this is less common. Make sure you know what you've got, because washing and re-using an element designed for one-time use will cause you grief.
If you do have a re-useable element, limit it to one year's life and no more than six cleanings. Cleaning can be done by either compressed air or washing in a special solution. But take care if you're using compressed air. That should be done cautiously by limiting the outlet pressure of the blow gun to 35 psi to prevent damage to the filtration media.
Most air-cleaning systems are single-stage mechanisms, but there are several two-stage types that have a pre-cleaner and a dust cup that collects contaminants before they reach the filter element itself.
Before you install a new filter element, make sure that you've got the right one. It's possible to have the right diameter and the wrong height. It would fit, but there would be a gap between housing and filter, so the gasket would never be able to make a seal.
And finally, every air-cleaning system must have a water-separating mechanism of some sort near the air intake. With an outside air cleaner, the intake should be mounted away from the flow of water-laden air as it streams over the hood or fender. That's not always possible, in which case a shield of some sort must be used
But remember air filter along is not the only way to save on fuel costs. Simple things like grease , air tire pressure are all part of maintenance and if kept up will give you a truck that will will little problems and will increase your bottom line.

Trucking Authority
Despite the setbacks presented by the skyrocketing prices of diesel and other petroleum products, the trucking industry is still reaping profits. Even if gas rates have pushed past the ceiling, companies and other enterprises still need trucks and rigs to get their merchandises delivered to their destinations. Joining the trucking industry at this time is quite a risky move, to say the least, but trucks and big rigs and wheelies are still very necessary for most businesses.
Creating a trucking business and obtaining trucking authority entails careful planning. Of course, there are some federal regulations like getting a US Dot Number and other regulations to comply with, including trucking insurance.
Businesses that involve vehicles for commercial purposes, when the nature of their operation includes ferrying passengers or hauling cargo in interstate business affairs and arrangements, trucking and logistics included, are required to register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association (FMCSA). The application for a US Dot number is of strict adherence because of its relative importance in future dealings such as auditing, crash investigations, accidents, and inspections. The US Dot number is the vehicle’s unique identifier and in some states, the registration for such number is needed to finish a commercial vehicle registration process. The following states require registration of a US Dot number:
• Alabama
• Alaska
• Arizona
• Colorado
• Florida
• Georgia
• Iowa
• Kansas
• Kentucky
• Maine
• Michigan
• Minnesota
• Missouri
• New York
• Ohio
• Oklahoma
• Oregon
• South Dakota
• Tennessee
• Utah
• Washington
• West Virginia
• Wisconsin
• Wyoming.
All authorized for-hire Motor Carriers of non-exempt property and passengers, Brokers, and Freight Forwarders based in the U.S. or Canada must obtain Operating Authority before they can begin interstate operations in the United States.
Trucking firms may be required to apply for both US Dot Number and interstate trucking operating authority. This depends on the line of the trucking business (forwarder, shipper, and motor carrier among others) and the materials to be transported (non-hazardous materials, hazardous substance, property, and passengers).
On top of this, trucking firms and companies still have to acquire trucking insurance as mandated by federal regulations. Transportation and trucking insurance acts like life safety nets not just for the trucks and rigs, but for the load as well. It is advised that the names of the company and owners submitted in previous trucking papers match the ones provided in their trucking insurance papers to avoid dismissal of insurance applications.
Depending on the line of their trucking business, trucking insurance requirements for passenger, property, and freight trucking and transportations vary. Companies from the said fields are instructed to file a BMC-91 or BMC-91X form, otherwise known as the Public Liability Insurance. If the vehicle to be operated has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 10,000 pounds or more to transport non-hazardous commodities or hazardous commodities, bodily injury and property damage (public liability) insurance must be maintained.
The said insurance covers bodily injury, property damage, and environmental restoration. Trucking companies that cater to passengers are covered by as much as $5 million; $1.5 million for those that seat 15 or less passengers. Freight companies are insured from $750,000 to $5 million, depending on the cargo they are transporting.
Aside from the BMC-91 or BMC-91X form and a US Dot Number, motor carriers and freight forwarded should apply for BMC-34, otherwise known as cargo insurance. Cargo insurance covers $5,000 per vehicle for motor carriers and $10,000 per occurrence. Freight brokers, on the other hand, can either file a BMC-84 or BMC-85, known as surety bond and private trust agreement respectively, both of which can cover a trucking company for as much as $10,000.
All Motor Carriers, Brokers, Freight Forwarders must also file a Unified Carrier Registration (UCR). Hazardous Materials Carriers must file and maintain a Hazardous Materials Registration Statement.
Other documents required by the FMCSA for trucking authority and legitimization of transport and trucking operations include an excellent line of arbitration and safety audits from the FMCSA’s official auditors for new trucking firms that will be conducted within the firm’s first 18 months of operations, which includes the following:
• Driver Qualifications;
• Driver Duty Status;
• Vehicle Maintenance;
• Accident Register; and
• Controlled Substances and Alcohol use and testing requirements.
Non-compliance of the registration requirements and other regulations of the FMCSA may lead to the cancellation of a trucking company’s registration for trucking authority and legitimization. In some instances, FMCSA deems a non-adhering trucking company as ‘inactive’ or ‘out of service.’
Trucking companies whose status are marked as ‘inactive’ or ‘out of service’ and continue to maintain operations are violating federal regulations. Aside from legal detention, company owners and truck drivers who go beyond the premise of FMCSA’s regulations are also subject to suspensions, detention, and monetary penalties. Other repercussions include civil and criminal charges for those who continue their trucking operations despite a suspended or cancelled license or trucking authority.

How to Get More Business for Your Trucking Company
If you’ve been running a small trucking company with just yourself and one truck for awhile and you’re looking to grow your business and expand your fleet, you know you’re going to purchase or lease more trucks. You’ll also probably need to hire more drivers and mechanics and perhaps even some logistics/dispatch experts. And you’ll need fleet insurance services, of course.
But that’s all in the future. Your first step will be expanding the number of companies who hire you for deliveries. You know you need to do so, but you may be wondering how you’ll do it.
Below are some tips/ideas on how you can go about getting more business for your trucking company.
First, you’ll want to raise awareness about your company. News releases announcing your expansion and advertising will help with this. You also may wish to offer incentives to your existing customers to increase the amount of business they do with you. Finally, you’ll need to publish brochures that you’ll give to current customers and that you’ll send to potential new customers.
As for the promotion/advertising/news release portion of your expansion efforts, send the press releases to newspapers, magazines and radio stations then follow up to see about their progress. You’ll also want to send the releases to online press release distribution services such as PRWeb.com.
You’ll need to advertise in trade publications. You also may wish to consider placing ads on billboards in various parts of the region(s) in which you plan to look for business, as well as Yellow Page advertising.
Offer discounts to your current customers for increased freight loads. Before you do so, print up your company’s name/logo on T-shirts, coffee mugs, pens and pencils, etc. and leave these with your current and potential customers when you make sales calls.
In fact, you should consider hiring a full- or part-time sales person to make sales calls on new customers. You can make the position commission-only, which means you don’t pay your salesperson a salary, but you do pay him or her a hefty commission on any and all freight business he or she brings you, with no limit on the amount of commissions he or she may receive. Don’t be worried that you’ll scare great salespeople away with a commission-only payment structure. You’ll actually attract the real salespeople, the kind of sales people who love to find and close business deals because they know their potential income is sky high. Salespeople who prefer salary-plus-commission positions are more attracted to the “safety” of the salary you give them, looking at any commission they may earn as “icing on the cake.” They often aren’t as aggressive as those who prefer commission-only work.
Your brochures should highlight the benefits of working with your trucking company. Let your potential customers know why they should hire you. Don’t talk so much about the newness of your fleet, your years of experience, the training you constantly give drivers. Mention these but do so from your potential customers’ point of view: Highlighting your years of experience shows your customers that you know the ins and outs of the industry and that you’ll get their goods to their destinations quickly and efficiently. Your drivers have many years of experience themselves, which means your customers’ cargo will arrive safely and quickly. Your fleet is new, so your trucks won’t break down as often, which means your customers can rest assured their cargo will arrive at their destinations on time.
As you work to grow your trucking company, you can look forward to the day you’ll be contacting your insurance company to let it know you’ll need fleet insurance services.

Prolonging the Life of Your Diesel Engine
Any individual who has to operate a diesel engine will know that unexpected repairs can both be costly and surprising. Diesel engines are created to give great operation only for a certain amount of time or a certain amount of miles. This determination is come to by the quality and type of fuel that is utilized, the specialized maintenance and the engine operation. The majority of diesel engines now use a turbo charger to induce greater performance and efficiency out of the engine. Usually the average life of an engine is 60% taking into consideration the turbo charger or turbo used. Once this time frame has been reached, the engine should be replaced or rebuilt. To help get the most out of the life of the turbo, there are a few easy operating tips that you can do to help this along: 1. Using the correct engine oil. The use of the manufacturer recommended engine oil is important. The engine oil will assist in lubricating the turbo. By utilizing a high quality fuel, you can help to ensure that the oil will give you the most it has to give to give you the best service it can until it is time to change oil and filter. The process of sampling oil can be used to assist in determining if the engine oil is giving the correct protection that is needed as well as letting you monitor the trends of wear and any contamination that could possibly happen. 2. Allow engine to warm up completely. It is very essential that you allow the engine to completely warm up when it is started. This helps the different parts of the engine to begin reaching the operating temperature and helps it to get well lubricated. 3. Allow engine to cool down completely. It is just as essential that you allow the engine to completely cool down prior to shutting it down. A lot of engine manufacturers offer an auto shut down feature to assist in making sure this is done. It is of VITAL importance that you never shut down the engine at any RPM that is above idle. **The shutting down at a high RPM can and will cause the turbo to spin at many thousand RPM’s without any lubrication. The oil that has been contained in the turbo will get extraordinary hot and will in a way, cook the oil into the bearings and will cause critical oil block passages. This can really reduce the life of the turbo and will result in turbo failure really early. It can also result in much reduced efficiency and poor performance. By following the above easy and simple tips, you can assist in increasing the diesel engine life and all of its components that go with it.

Diesel Prices are Moving, The Answer
Wall Street crude has been trading higher which means diesel fuels is also. Diesel prices broke the $3 a gallon mark for the first time since November 2008,
After going down 0.7 cents last week on the heels of a five-week tare, diesel climbed back 78.7 cents higher than the same week last year to settle at a national average of $3.015 a gallon The rising fuel prices may be one indication that a U.S. economic recovery is well underway.
Crude oil recently hit an 18-month high as it passed $85 a barrel and they are predictions higher prices to come.
The West Coast and Central Atlantic regions had the highest prices while the Gulf Coast and Lower Atlantic regions saw the lowest averages.
Also In Canada, diesel and furnace oil prices have also risen steadily over the last few months.
As always, diesel prices in Atlantic Canada and Quebec remain the highest in the country.

How to Grow your Trucking Company
Running a successful trucking company requires three things.
1. Finding truck loads of freight
2. Moving the truck load from point A to point B
3. Managing all the little details so that 1 and 2 happen successfully
Sounds easy, doesn’t it? However, most trucking companies fail because of the little details that go wrong. Repairs are missed, so trucks stop working. Diesel Fuel Additive Reason
Most owners of diesel machines have not thought about using a diesel oil additive to increase the gas mileage because diesel engines are far superior in this aspect of most conventional motors and fuel additives or supplements focused exclusively on the combustion of gasoline vehicles. However, as fuel prices have skyrocketed and impact everything from food prices to the length of our family vacation, the oil additive is the slowdown in the market to turn to diesel engines.
Although diesel engines are more energy efficient than petrol engines, this advantage is offset by the price significantly more than diesel fuel. In addition, the combustion gas engines have made great progress over the last decade, if you own a diesel vehicle, you May not receive the mileage that is far superior to your neighbor over. Considering how much you pay for fuel, it is certainly worth considering a diesel oil additive.
Diesel engines often have more difficulty in moving the government of the emission tests to protect the atmosphere and stall or even stop the process of global warming. Many oil additives for diesel engines can not only increase the efficiency of your engine, they can also reduce exhaust emissions of your vehicle and improving the annual ranking of required emissions testing.
Diesel engines fill a niche in the mechanical world that no other type of machine can replace the moment, but the high price of fuel is rapidly making the owners of these types of machines to look elsewhere for profits and opportunities. This means that the market for this type of work will soon be open, and if using a diesel fuel additive you can get a sound, profitable start in this new market and opportunity, then you must be crazy to let the chance. If a window is open, smart business people jumping meet.
Finally, using a diesel oil additive is common sense. Some Engine Additive can help to get the engines up to 20 percent more miles per gallon of diesel fuel only. Especially if you drive a large diesel vehicle, 20 percent more miles before completing this monster tank could quickly earn enough for a "free" tank of fuel or even help you save enough to put in your diesel engine to about much more cost - effective.
